I’ve been on a sugar free diet for more than a decade, which means I’ve tried virtually every sugar, free, candy product on the planet (and maybe the universe). Good sugar, free chocolate is particularly hard to find. 90% of the time the sugar-free chocolate, I’ve tried is all flavored, oddly texture, and overall fairly inedible – particularly when compared to its full sugared cousin. Not so with Ashers! It has a marvelously, rich chocolate flavor with excellent creamy milk, chocolate texture that actually DOES melt in your mouth. But that’s just the start. In most cases the chocolate is encasing Another sweet or salty candy treat. My favorite is the raspberry jellies. They have an incredibly soft consistency with excellent raspberry flavor that kind of explodes in your mouth. The combination of raspberry flavor with the chocolate is pretty spectacular. My biggest problem is not eating the whole bag in one sitting because they are more addicting than you would guess. (I may have to start a support group)I also really like the chocolate/nut covered English toffee treats. The toffee has an authentic English flavor with lots of buttery notes. It’s actually hard for me to believe that this is a sugar free treat because it is so flavorful and rich . The caramels are an excellent choice for the same reason – soft and flavorful on the tongue without any risk to pulling out your dental work… Lol. I like the chocolate covered pretzels – particularly if you buy them from the Asher store because the pretzels are still fresh and crispy . I always buy two boxes worth one for my wife and one for myself (we both hide our stash from one another. And finally, I just took advantage of the chocolate peanut butter Easter egg closeout sale. Pretty much the best price I’ve seen for any of the Asher products in recent history. These are excellent, given their creamy peanut butter filling – exponentially better than say, a Reese‘s peanut butter cup. I honestly can’t taste the difference in terms of sweetness between Asher products and regular full sugar items. Yes, they are pricey, but when I want a treat, I want to feel like I’m really treating myself with Ashers candy, I don’t mess the full sugar alternatives, and the havoc they used to wreck on my blood sugar. Try them for yourself, if you don’t like them, you can send them to me.
